Supplying Australia's food processors, our strong customer focus and commitment to excellence has made us a trusted partner in the industry.We’re looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Devonport and play a key role in the financial operations of our business.Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring sound financial governance, accurate reporting, and smooth day-to-day operation of accounting processes. This role is central to financial planning and budgeting, providing insights and support to help guide the company’s growth and sustainability.Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing end-of-month management accounts, financial analysis, and reporting to leadership.
  • Managing cash flow forecasting, overseas supplier payments, and foreign currency transactions.
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including debt collection and credit control.
  • Managing tax compliance including BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT, and company tax obligations.
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset and Financing Registers and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Overseeing insurance renewals, claims, and coverage adequacy.
  • Reviewing contract terms and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Providing financial insights to support strategic planning and business proposals.
  • Supervising and mentoring your finance team.
RequirementsWe’re seeking someone with:
  • 5+ years’ finance management experience, ideally in an import/wholesale trading environment.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA/CA highly regarded).
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI).
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and financial compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the business.
  • Experience leading or supervising staff.
