- Contribute to operationalising the Data Governance Framework via strong and actionable policies, processes, procedures and standards through the relevant jurisdictions.
- Evaluate opportunities and make recommendations for embedding Data Governance practices within IT teams and across the organisation.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration among Data Stewards and other teams while supporting adoption of data practices and tools including Data Catalogue, Enterprise Business Glossary along with associated processes and artefacts.
- Assist the Enterprise Data team implementing and maintaining the tools and processes to ensure compliance with data obligations across jurisdictions.
- Contribute to internal and external audits as necessary.
- Work closely with the business to streamline processes, increase compliance, reduce effort, raise data maturity and deliver tangible business value.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather and analyse data requirements, ensuring the solutions align with business and data governance objectives
- Develop and maintain comprehensive, consistent documentation for data models, data flows, data dictionaries, enterprise business glossary and other data artifacts. Ensure they are consistent with industry standards and scalable to business needs.
- Present data artefacts and insights to stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by manager to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements.
- 6+ years’ experience in data management roles preferably in Financial Services or FinTech.
- 2+ years' experience in a specialist Data Governance role
- Solid understanding of DAMA DMBoK principles or any other relevant data frameworks (i.e. DCAM), and industry best practices.
- Experience in at least two Data Management Areas (e.g. Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modelling, Data Security, Data Integration, Data Risk, Reporting).
- Good experience in developing robust data policies, standards, processes and procedures.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory, compliance and business requirements into clear, actionable data policies.
- Familiarity with data governance, data retention, data quality, data privacy and data classification implementations.
- Knowledge of global regulatory and compliance frameworks commonly used the in financial services sector (i.e. GDPR, NIST, Australian Privacy Act).
- Hands-on experience in creating and/or maintaining an Enterprise Business Glossary.
- Experience of contemporary cloud data-management technology (preferably AWS).
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Strong understanding of metadata management for data modelling.
- Experience in a fast-paced transformation environment, proactive and comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and facilitating workshops with diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
