📅 Start ASAP | Initial contract until 30 June 2026 | 12-month extension optionAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a large-scale federal government program focused on modernising critical ICT systems and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects in a secure and complex environment while working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of secure network services across on-premise and cloud environments. You'll play a key role in supporting the agency's transition to cloud, ensuring networks remain secure, resilient, and optimised for performance.At Empire Group, we value diversity and are committed to equitable recruitment. Our focus is on creating fair, accessible, and culturally safe recruitment processes that genuinely reflect and respect the communities we serve.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, firewalls, routing, switching).Monitor and optimise network operations, providing proactive support and troubleshooting for incidents.Contribute to planning and delivery of both BAU operations and major ICT projects.Support the implementation of network solutions in Microsoft Azure.Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and mentor colleagues to uplift capability.Provide accurate advice, reporting, and technical guidance to stakeholders at all levels.Skills and ExperienceTo be successful, you will demonstrate:Proven experience in enterprise network engineering within complex environments.Strong technical expertise in Layer 2 networking (VLANs, Trunks, Spanning Tree).Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies and secure network design.Exposure to Azure networking and cloud-based infrastructure.Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.RequirementsMust hold an active NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) Security Clearance.Ability to work in Canberra on a hybrid arrangement (on-site and remote).Contract DetailsStart Date: ASAP (no later than September 2025)Initial Term: Until 30 June 2026Extension Options: Up to 12 monthsSeniority: Senior - EL1 equivalentLocation: Canberra, ACTFor enquiries or to submit your application, please contact: Laura Syms
