Job Category: Technical Services and SupportJob Description:Downer is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead our technical operations across Queensland. Based out of Brendale, this pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of our asphalt products and laboratory operations, while driving innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement.Role Responsibilities

Lead the technical function for asphalt production and pavement projects.
Manage laboratory operations and technical staff, ensuring coverage and capability.
Ensure compliance with NATA 17025, SRA specifications, and client requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Support client engagement, staff development, and strategic planning.
Conduct quality control trend analysis and implement corrective actions.
Drive safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring

Diploma in Laboratory Technologies or higher.
NATA Level 5 qualification and experience in laboratory supervision.
Knowledge of asphalt and bituminous surfacing advantageous but not required.
Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Proven experience in technical/project operations management.
Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Strong understanding of quality assurance and lab operations.
High integrity, proactive leadership, and excellent communication.
