Access theQBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.About the role:You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional procurement services for operational staff and developing and promoting procurement ‘best practice' and contract performance across the region.Duties and skills involved:
  • Communicating procurement strategies inclusive of strategic sourcing and contract management to staff and facilitating changes to traditional procurement practices through training and education programs.
  • Preparing and calling of tenders and undertaking purchasing activities for a variety of categories involving construction, maintenance, consulting and upgrade activities, including evaluation and regulatory techniques.
  • Providing guidance and assistance to operational and estimating teams in purchasing and the associated policies, as well as pricing of future works.
  • Striving for continuous improvement within the procurement and estimating function, through maintaining awareness of current industry procurement and estimating practices.
  • Establishing working relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers and contractors, focussing on competitive pricing and meeting established performance standards, to contribute to the development and implementation of Standing Offer Agreements and building contracts.
  • Developing and delivering procurement and contract management training programs to internal and external stakeholders, including industry briefs, contractor inductions, ongoing skills frameworks, and the coordinate the presentation of training sessions to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining procurement instructions, procedures and guidelines in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Central Procurement Office, ensuring all quality assurance procedures within the work area are followed.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, enthusiastically contributing to QBuild culture and motivating staff to exceed expectations and provide the highest standards of customer service.
  • Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
