Here, you will be working with CommBank’s top engineers and AI experts to drive training, culture and experimentation so that all our engineers are making the best use of the emerging AI technologies that make them happier and more productive.Key responsibilities also include but not limited to:Regularly tackle the largest and most complex problems in the team, from technical design to productionTranslate requirements into solid engineering deliverables, delegating work to squad membersRapidly experiment with emerging AI assisted engineering tools, and partner effectively with engineering squads across the Group to support real-world testing and analysisDeliver solutions that are used by other teams and productsRoutinely tackle complex architecture challenges and define architectural standardsContributing to architectural discussions and propose improvements, role modelling standards and best practicesActively participating in code reviews, maintain high quality code bases and assist in documentation for knowledge sharingWork on cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment and addressing inter-dependenciesCoaching and mentoring Engineers in the teamWe are interested in hearing from people who have:A proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale, complex engineering initiativesExpertise in AI/ML and Gen AI applications and how they can enhance software engineering processes to improve productivityExperience building RAGs using LlamaIndex, LangChain, or similar frameworksExperience building Agentic AI systems using AutoGen, SemanticKernel, Pydantic, or similar frameworks is preferredProficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript or C#) and experience developing microservices architecture on cloud platforms (AWS & Azure)A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and you are a daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Continue, GitHub CoPilot, Aider, Cline, etcKnowledge of or experience in Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face will be highly desirableExperience in developing applications using .NET framework, JavaScript frameworks (Next JS), APIs and databases such as Aurora is highly advantageousExceptional strategic thinking and ability to define long-term technical direction for teams and organisationsStrong mentoring and leadership skills, with a passion for upskilling engineers and fostering a culture of innovationDemonstrated ability to evaluate emerging AI tools and integrate them into engineering workflowsProficiency in agile development methodologies and iterative experimentation from ideation to prototype to pilot to productWorking with us:Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career here is for you.
