The OrganisationJoin a 236-bed regional hospital that services 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across the region. The health service is embarking on an exciting period of growth with a $250m redevelopment of the base hospital to provide an additional 112 inpatient beds and an expansion of outpatient and support services. Significant upgrades are also underway at rural hospitals.The Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service comprises an acute mental health inpatient facility with 24 beds and a step-up step-down unit with 10 beds. Community mental health services include an acute care service, consultation-liaison psychiatry, continuing care team, mobile intensive rehabilitation team, early psychosis service for ages 16-25, child and youth mental health, older persons mental health and alcohol & other drugs services. There is also an opportunity for involvement in community and inpatient services to clients managed and supported on forensic orders.In addition to the Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service, the health service have an assertive mobile youth outreach service that forms part of an integrated continuum of care for adolescents requiring mental health treatment. These services are based in the region with limited outreach services to three locations. The Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU) in the MBH have two designated mental health beds for crisis intervention cases and links with the Townsville Adolescent Unit in the case of prolonged admissions.

Specialty services are provided by tertiary hospitals, including a strong undergraduate teaching affiliation with James Cook University

You will be able to support ongoing education within the mental health service through the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students

Total remuneration value of up to $466,767.00
17.5% leave loading, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., access to paid parental leave

Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent
Current registration (or be eligible for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to practice as a Specialist in Psychiatry
Accreditation or progress towards accreditation in any of the subspecialties including Adult Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Older Persons Psychiatry, Psychotherapies or Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry will be considered an advantage
