The group's assets are held in beneficial .Your next exciting job opportunity –BMT are looking for experienced Marine Field Scientists at Senior to Principal Level in Melbourne. The role of the Senior Marine Scientist is to undertake or support the planning and implementation of field based collection, analysis and reporting. The role carries out a variety of scientific assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad range of related scientific and engineering fields in the environmental sciences.In this role you will:Work independently, performs technical work and exercises individual judgement and initiative (in conjunction with other senior staff).Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform technical tasks.Acquire training and broadens experience to become qualified for more senior responsibilities, or to broaden skill set (including driving of vessels and scientific diving).Adhere to quality, safety and environmental procedures/standards.Liaise with service providers and clients for the purposes of service delivery.Demonstrate strong knowledge of relevant software, systems and processes.Work as part of a project team to deliver projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements.May contribute to technical papers and industry/conference presentations.Maintain calibration and record keeping of equipment, as applicable.Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills:Essential:Bachelor’s degree in marine, coastal sciences or engineering.>5 years' professional experience in sciences, with an emphasis of field data collectionStrong verbal and written communication skills.Willingness to undertake field work in remote and/or areas, for extended periods of time (up to several weeks).Manual drivers licence.Desirable:Experience in the deployment and use of met-ocean instrumentation including ADCPs and water quality sondes.Experience with telemetered real-time monitoring systems.Experience with the use of autonomous vehicles (e.g. drones) for field data collection, including planning, operation and data processing.First aid certificate.Off-road vehicle experience.Proficient in use of MS Excel.Some proficiency in GIS (MapInfo, QGIS, or ArcGIS).Experience working within the scientific, engineering or resources sector.Flexible Work -BMT genuinely believe everyone performs at their best when they have the flexibility to make working for BMT work best for you!
