Water Engineer (Mechanical /Civil)Due to multiple major projects win and increase projects in the pipeline, RPS has a fantastic opportunity for a Water Engineer to join our well-respected, specialist Water Engineering team on a full-time basis.We are looking for a water engineer from experienced to the Senior level background.The successful candidate will play a key role, presenting, delivering project and technical advice to internal and external stakeholders contributing to the successful performance of the Water business unit.You will be exposed to a variety of engineering applications primarily in the mine water management context including:
  • Hydraulic modelling, dewatering engineering solutions, pumping and piping design;
  • Civil, earthworks, water infrastructure design;
  • Mine water management and optimisation strategies.
Key responsibilities
  • Project scoping, site investigation, and option studies;
  • Preparation of technical proposal & budgeting;
  • Collect, compile, present and evaluate/analyse technical and field data;
  • Provide proficient engineering solutions for all project stages (concept to detail design) and producing design reports and tender packages for detail design;
  • Undertake engineering design, efficiently performing technical tasks, and for senior role: providing mentoring, technical direction and supervision for less experienced engineers and draftsman;
  • Ensuring technical quality of the deliverables through implementation of design verification;
  • Project management & client liaison to ensure successful project delivery on time and on budget;
  • Undertake project documentation, filing, project management and billing.
Skills and qualifications requiredTo be successful you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • BE/MSc Engineering (Mechanical / Civil background);
  • Eligible for chartered engineering status;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in water resources projects;
  • Demonstrable experience in mine dewatering systems, borefields, downhole equipment sizing, and mine site services (process, potable, wastewater systems);
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software such as WaterGEMS intermediate to advance level is a must;
  • Proficiency in MS office and GIS software such as Global Mapper, ArcGIS, etc;
  • Technical experience in feasibility and detail design, with technical knowledge in hydraulic modelling, equipment sizing, surge analysis, pump station design, pumping system operation control and instrumentation;
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Confident and flexible attitude to office and field-based work assignments; ability to work in and manage medium to large projects;
  • Client focussed, self-motivated and a can-do attitude.
