Mantuan Downs Station is located between Springsure and Tambo, and is approx. 2.5 hours south of Emerald, near Carnarvon National Park. Mantuan Downs has approximately 18,000 head of cattle and is a large-scale cattle breeding & backgrounding property covering 134,000ha. Country ranges from large areas of brigalow/wilga/bottle tree scrub to open downs, soft forest hollows and areas of lighter forest and ranges.Station Cook
Join the Mantuan Downs Station crew as a Station Cook providing tasty home-style meals. For this position, you will need to be organised, friendly, and most importantly, a great cook that has a passion for cooking hearty and nutritious meals. A rare opportunity to experience life on an iconic Australian cattle station whilst positively impacting our crew providing good nutritious meals.Day to day duties include:
- Cooking tasty, nutritious, home-style meals for approx 12 -15 station employees and guests on occasion
- Menu planning
- Preparing the grocery list to order and maintain adequate supplies
- Ensuring variety in daily and weekly meals
- Ensuring the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas are kept clean and tidy
- Maintaining kitchen utensils and cooking equipment in good order
- Have experience in a similar role, cooking for live-in groups and providing meals to schedule
- Have a passion for producing quality, wholesome and nutritious food
- Be a self-starter that has excellent time management and organisation skills
- Have an understanding of food hygiene practices
- Have the ability to work in a safe manner
