- Act as first point of reference for day-to-day operational queries (primarily trade support related), and liaise with related areas.
- Process daily securities finance operational activities (primarily settlements related) and, in time, supervise day-to-day work of junior staff offshore (but not a formal management role).
- Work closely with Securities Finance Trading desk and Account Managers and provide operational support.
- Identify potential risk situations, ensuring appropriate management and timely escalation where needed.
- Interact with borrowers and other external parties, developing effective working relationships in order to address operational issues.
- As a subject matter expert in the area of Australia trade support, provide guidance and leadership in these matters to staff and other impacted parties, and act as an advisor to business decisions.
- Provide management reporting on operational activities.
- Provide training and coaching to junior staff based offshore.
- Effective contribution to ad-hoc projects and may lead projects.
- Operational knowledge of Securities Lending markets (especially Australia) and associated operational processes such as loan collateralization, Corporate Actions is mandatory
- Knowledge in Australian Equity and Fixed Income settlements and post trade activites
- Ability to set priorities, multi-task and manage deadlines, escalating issues where necessary.
- Self-starter, flexible, with the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Effective and confident communicator (oral and written), capable of influencing peers and holding discussions with external counterparties.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to recognise opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions.
- Ability to coach others.
- Good PC skills, in particular, Excel.
- Experience in communicating with teams (operations and front office) and external financial institutions.
