We are Australia's largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Located 14km northwest of Singleton, Ashton underground mine has been operational for nearly 20 years. The mine produces semi-soft coking coal for export through the Port of Newcastle, for use in the steel manufacturing industry and thermal coal for power generation. Ashton employs approximately 330 people across our surface and underground operations.Job Tasks and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the shift Undermanager, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
  • Supervising the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of all electrical plant & equipment on site
  • Conducting effective preventative & scheduled maintenance and fault-finding work on electrical systems
  • Monitoring equipment to ensure it remains fit for purpose, functional and in a safe condition
Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in securing this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Minimum 2 years Underground Coal Mining experience in a similar role (essential)
  • Electrical Trade Qualification and Certificate of Proficiency (mandatory)
  • Qualifications in Maintenance of Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas (highly desirable)
  • Experience maintaining Underground Mining Equipment including Conveyor Systems, Joy Development Equipment, CT/DBT Longwall Equipment and Explosive Protected Diesel Plant (SMV, PJB, Jug-A-O)
  • A Strong community to safety with strong communication & influencing skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude towards and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on site
  • Knowledge of Coal Mining WHS legislation requirements
