The OpportunityWe have an opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist (Marine Mammal Ecologist) to be part of our SA Research & Development Institute Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.The primary purpose of the role is to assess, monitor and mitigate seafood and other marine industry interactions with marine protected species - particularly marine mammals, conduct population and ecological studies of marine protected species to inform conservation and management.The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities including `sustaining the resource' by informing the sustainable management of natural resources that underpin primary industries production.The role contributes to delivering high-quality science and research services to internal and external clients.About UsSouth Australia is internationally recognised for the quality of its agriculture, food, and wine. Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.
Requirements
Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies. Must complete remote area first-aid training.
