Requisition ID: REQ601868Applications Close: 22 September 2025Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa).What you'll be doingThe Level 3 Social Worker is responsible for the provision of psychosocial and parenting interventions with vulnerable families participating in the Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) program in the MNCLHD.
The Social Worker position provides an important function in the team for addressing family's needs that are outside of the scope of the nurse home visitor role. The Social Worker position augments the role of the nurse home visitor in the therapeutic relationship working with children and parents, by allowing the nurse home visitor to concentrate their efforts on the parent-child relationship and the parental job of parenting. Interventions will occur primarily with Child and Family Health Nurses (CFHN) and other team members in the form of casework, group work and community education/activities with other government and non-government organisations.The Level 3 Social Worker provides specialist social work and counselling interventions with an early intervention focus which aim to enhance parenting capacity, promote health family functioning, support families at a time of change and promote infant mental health. The focus of the intervention is the adult (parent or carer) through the exploration of the parent/child relationship and presenting issues.The Level 3 social worker can demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimal direct clinical supervisionThe position involves working with families with complexed issues and potential exposure to trauma.The MNCLHD are currently seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our amazing team within the Mid North Coast.About you
- Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Extensive experience working with families with complexed clinical presentations in relevant clinical settings such as perinatal mental health, child protection, domestic violence and substance misuse.
- Demonstrated advanced therapeutic skills in conducting complex psychosocial assessments and counselling with the ability to respond to the needs of vulnerable families in stressful situations.
- Extensive clinical experience providing clinical consultation and facilitating case review, in the context of family centred casework within a community based multidisciplinary team.
- Substantial experience in developing and maintaining co-operative professional relationships, with other health care teams, government, and NGO agencies using well developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with high level time management organisational skills and computer literacy.
- Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the willingness to travel for work.
