As well as providing products and services to our member, we play a broader community role by advocating for improvements in the healthcare system and in quality, safety and professionalism in medicine, through delivering education and research activities.About the role:Avant is implementing an integrated business-led data governance function that bridges the divide between business and IT, modernises processes and will be essential to ensuring we meet our strategic imperatives.This role, reporting to the Data Governance Manager, will act as an advisory and consultative function to assist the business in identifying Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and addressing their data governance requirements.You will support the implementation of the organisation's Data Governance Framework and standards across business functions, to build trust and value in their data. Confidence in facilitating workshops and initiating, influencing and maintaining positive productive relationships with stakeholders will be essential for success.Within the role, you will assist Data Owners and Data Stewards understanding and alignment with the Data Governance Framework, policies, practices and regulatory obligations and guidelines relating to data such as CPG235, the privacy act, CPS230.Key accountabilities:

Support the development, implementation and embedment of the data governance framework, including policies, standards, processes and metrics
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business, and act as a SME, to ensure understanding and alignment Data Governance framework and regulatory obligations, standards and guidelines relating to data such as CPG235, privacy, CPS230
Ensure consistency in data governance and management practices across Avant by maintaining a Business Glossary, Data Catalogue and Data Dictionary.
Advocate for better use of data across Avant and contribute to improving the data literacy across the business with knowledge sharing, upskilling others, facilitating governance forum meetings and assisting with projects
Coordinate and lead data quality remediation efforts, championing the management and resolution of data quality issues with operational business leads

To be successful in this role you will have:

5+ years experience across data governance, data management or data analytics space, including implementing relevant frameworks, policies and standards
Experience in a regulated environment (financial services or insurance essential)
A solid understanding, and experience with Data Management concepts and best practices such as DCAM / DMBOK
Working knowledge of different data governance & management tools and processes
Experience working with customer data
Strong stakeholder management and ability to comfortably work and interact with senior stakeholders across a number of business divisions and domains
