As an industry leader and employer of choice, we're Made for More.About the roleWesTrac are currently seeking a Technical Lead (Powertrains) to join our Component Rebuild Centre at Tomago. This position will require extensive knowledge of powertrains and is accountable for being a subject matter expert, providing advice to the broader team and customers.Reporting to the Branch Manager - Component Rebuild Centre, you will be responsible for investigating matters relating to the overhauls, repair, service and engineering of powertrains, assist in failure analysis reports and provide recommendations for resolution.This role is a pivotal touch point between the technicians working on the workshop floor and the Workshop Supervisors to ensure that solutions contribute to an efficient overhaul.Key Responsibilities
  • Review and investigate technical product issues and provide recommendations for timely solutions, liaising with appropriate WesTrac and CAT representatives
  • Review root cause analysis (RCA) documents on failed product components and report through stakeholders as required, to ensure continuous improvement of product information
  • Undertake component performance audits against CAT specifications to ensure component reliability issues are resolved
  • Provide reported recommendations to change customer maintenance and/or operational practices
  • Promote continuous improvement and the utilisation of Caterpillar Production System (CPS) within the operational team
Skills & Experience
  • Mechanical Trade qualification with proven post trade experience
  • Previous experience with component overhauls in the heavy industry
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Highly developed attention to detail
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills to coordinate team, work activities and project outcomes simultaneously
  • Advanced communication skills including the ability to effectively engage and manage stakeholders and deliver presentations
  • The ability to effectively resolve issues and identify continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, SAP experience is desirable but not essential
