Attachments:This is an exciting newly created position where you will primarily be based at one of the newest WA Country Health Service sites – Eucla!Other sites for this position include Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Norseman, Laverton and Leonora.Eucla is the easternmost locality in Western Australia, located in the Goldfields-Esperance region along the Eyre Highway, approximately 11 kilometres west of the South Australian border that sees more than 120,000 vehicles enter through the road checkpoints each year.It is the only Western Australian location on the Eyre Highway that has a direct view of the due to its elevated position immediately next to the Eucla Pass – where the highway moves out and above the basin known as that occurs between the Madura and Eucla passes.Eucla has a hotel and restaurant, a police station, a golf club (7 km to the north), a museum dedicated to the Old Telegraph Station, and a meteorological station. These, together with fishing, are the major activities in the locality.Overview of the Role:As a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Remote Area Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing and coordinating primary health care services to communities, including those in remote locations. Your responsibilities will encompass emergency care, chronic disease management, child health, immunisation, health promotion, and education, ensuring that our communities receive the highest standard of care.Ideal Candidate:We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist who possesses the following qualities:
  • Extensive clinical experience with strong assessment, triage, and emergency management skills
  • In-depth understanding of chronic disease management and primary health care principles
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and supervisory skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, particularly in cross-cultural settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with community stakeholders
  • Proven capability in coordinating medical evacuations and responding to emergency situations
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to WACHS policies and proceduresKey Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and consultancy to patients while coordinating weekday clinics in local communities
  • Administer emergency care, including transport, assessment, treatment, and referral
  • Coordinate and organise medical evacuations as per WA Health and WACHS guidelines
  • Establish collaborative relationships with health and community personnel to deliver quality services
  • Develop and implement health promotion programs in consultation with local communities
