Reporting directly to the Fleet Engineering Manager, the Senior Vessel Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe mechanical operations of our vessels and upholding engineering training standards. This role includes oversight of the machinery space condition and the competency of Vessel Engineers, while also focusing on their professional development.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the vessel visit and inspection program to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Oversee training and development requirements for Vessel Engineers to enhance their skills.
  • Assess the performance of Vessel Engineers and provide coaching as needed.
  • Assist in the drafting and implementation of vessel engineering SOPs, documents, and touch drills.
  • Ensure vocational training is aligned with career progression pathways for Vessel Engineers, MED2, and MED3.
  • Conduct audits and oversee the training of vessel HELM records and onboard users.
  • Facilitate on-the-job training for MEDs to promote personal and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Engineering Manager to maintain the highest standards of mechanical operations.
About youTo be successful in this role, you will possess a strong technical background with extensive knowledge of marine engines and systems. Your experience with installations and conducting risk assessments will enable you to implement practical safety measures effectively. A commitment to excellent guest service, ensuring that guest expectations are consistently met. Additionally, your strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail will allow you to manage your time effectively while prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.To be successful in this role, you will possess:
  • High level of expertise in marine engines and system knowledge, including installations.
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities with a focus on meeting guest expectations.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively.
  • Intermediate computer literacy, including proficiency with maintenance management software and data entry.
Requirements:
  • MAR40220 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC)
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (QLD)
  • Working with Children's Check (Blue Card)
  • Experience within the Marine Tourism industry and high-speed vessels highly preferred
