The OrganisationYou will work in a 305-bed facility which is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include emergency medicine, general medicine, cardiology, renal medicine, palliative care, psychiatry, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ent, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and anaesthetics. There is also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. The Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services. CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and oncology suites are on site.Orthopaedic patients are admitted to the 36-bed surgical ward. The theatre complex comprises 5 operating theatres, 1 procedure room and 3 operating theatres. The department provides telehealth consultations to two other hospitals and various other small regional/rural hospitals.
The Job

In this role, you will assist in a variety of orthopaedic services such as elective operating, general and specialist trauma operating, elective and fracture clinics, teaching, audit, M&M and departmental research providing you with hands-on surgical training, a wide breadth of clinical exposure, and the opportunity to learn directly from the Director, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons, and other senior medical staff. You will be working with a friendly team that includes Staff Specialists, a Senior Medical Officer, an AOA SET trainee, Principal House Officers, 2 Resident Medical Officers and Interns
As a Surgical Registrar, you will support the provision of a high-quality orthopaedic surgical service
You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and skills and supervise the day-to-day activities of junior medical staff to ensure that appropriate standards of care are maintained
You will participate in a shared on-call roster

Total remuneration value of $169,083 p.a
Remuneration comprises a base salary, 12.75% employer superannuation contribution, 17.5% leave loading, and more

Requirements

Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) with minimum Level 3 supervision requirements, OR eligibility for registration via the Competent Authority Pathway
Please note doctors seeking their first position in Australia via the Standard Pathway or doctors with current registration and Level 1 supervision requirements cannot be considered at this time.
Experience and qualifications in Orthopaedics will be well-regarded
