- Manage customer interactions (including intermediaries and the end customer) in an efficient, courteous and timely manner to deliver high standards of responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching internally to less experienced team members, as well as externally to brokers, clients and peers; contribute to raising standards and expertise across the technical community.
- Insurance technical risk analysis including application of rating and natcat models, analysis and tailoring of policy schedules, wordings, endorsements etc.
- Lifecycle policy servicing including coverage amendments, credit control, input in regular
- reporting, and various other process administrative tasks.
- Maintain ongoing contact to intermediaries as well as customers, including participation in strategy meetings, roadshows, underwriter presentations, site surveys and other market meetings.
- Underwrite a broad variety of commercial property risks, including commercial package risks including delegated authority special acceptances.
- General underwriting functions including underwriting submission review, account research, pricing analysis, review of terms and conditions, preparation for client meetings, exposures and completion of underwriting worksheet.
- Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines which to include thorough review of underwriting application/submission.
- Support and provide feedback with the development of account pricing/recommendation/peer review/referrals within the Commercial Lines team.
- Stay current with respect to major market and industry issues and developments.
- Continue to grow current market presence and build relationships within the Australian Commercial market whilst representing and promoting Allied World in a professional manner.
- Ensure receipt of and review of outstanding information (including underlying/followed policies) to ensure consistency with the terms and conditions agreed at binding.
- Ideally 5+ years of Property trading or technical lines insurance experience.
- Good understanding of natcat/weather peril risks and how to assess them.
- Existing broker and customer relationships, or the experience and ability to develop strong relationships quickly, with possible prior experience in marketing and negotiation.
- Experience with and good understanding of policy wordings, including broker manuscript forms. Strong attention to detail required.
- Must be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – required for significant liaison with clients, brokers, others teams within Allied World and building strong working relationships.
- Highly computer literate, with an advanced level proficiency using an underwriting system.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is a must.
- Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Good attention to detail and quantitative skills.
- Overall, team player with collaborative outlook – acting as a role model for more junior members of the team.
