We rally together, drawing on the diverse skills across our teams and create environments where great ideas are heard.About your roleUGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business are on the search for an experienced Structural Design Drafter to join our supportive Engineering team, based at our facility in Broadmeadow, Newcastle.Reporting to the Capability Manager – Systems, the role of Structural Designer will be to support with the design of engineering solutions from initial concept to completion. You will work closely with the team and liaise with key stakeholders to provide innovative engineering solutions & advice.Specifically, you will be responsible for:
  • 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) used to define vehicle configuration, systems, and sub systems, component assemblies and details
  • Monitoring the output of Detail Drafters in the nominated discipline to ensure correctness, quality and on time delivery
  • Implementation of Design Instructions created by Engineers
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing process to create a design consistent with company preferred manufacturing methods and the Engineering & Design Guide
About you
  • Specialist experience in the discipline of Structural system design, ideally within a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
  • Contract & project related design experience
  • Detailed knowledge of CATIA or similar, using both 2D and 3D design environments and associated technology
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Must be customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven.
