
Construction Inspector

- On-site monitoring of Public Projects conducted by Outside Parties (e.g. DOT's) and their contractors for conformance with railroad requirements and approved contractor means and methods.
- Conducting project preconstruction meetings between client personnel, the contractor, and Outside Party.
- Communicating with the client and contractor to work through field changes.
- Maintaining accurate project records and being accountable for successful and timely delivery of field reports and meeting minutes while upholding the quality standards of AECOM and the client.
- Interacting with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of track, structures, geotechnical, signals, mechanical, and civil engineers.
- Performing regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, construction plans, and railroad standards.
- Documenting and reporting any deviations from approved plans or safety concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
- Coordinating with railroad personnel to ensure minimal disruption to rail operations during construction activities.
- Reviewing and verifying contractor submittals, including material certifications and quality control documentation.
- Monitoring project schedules and progress, identifying potential delays or issues, and recommending corrective actions.
- Assisting in the resolution of field conflicts and providing technical guidance to contractors when necessary.
- Participating in project closeout activities, including final inspections and punch list completion.
- Staying current with industry standards, railroad regulations, and construction best practices.
- High School plus 2 years of relevant work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Driver's license and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
- Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
- 2 years experience in the freight rail industry with Public Projects
- Experience with Class I Railroads is preferred but not required.Experience with Class I Railroads is preferred but not required
- Demonstrate experience in construction inspection, engineering design, or project management.
- 4 years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and able to communicate effectively (oral and written)
- Willingness to travel 2-5 days a week within Virginia
