Located centrally in Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land.This role will give you both formal studies (TAFE) and practical experience in the Boilermaker trade undertaking Cert III Engineering – Fabrication (Heavy). Working within the ship repair & maintenance business of Thales Australia, you will be trained in the following specialist areas;Manufacturing of all types of steel work from drawings or samples, in various types of metalsThe safe use of basic hand tools, battery tools, electric and pneumatic toolsPerforming basic welding ( MIG, TIG & Stick)Fabrication and welding processesAbout YouProactive attitude and keen to become familiar with workshop equipment, machinery and its safe operationAbility to read/understand technical drawings and operate with an attention to detailWilling and able to work within confined spaces, supported by all relevant trainingWell-developed communication skills with the ability to work in a team environmentOther related duties as assigned, which may include off-site work or projects outside the Sydney metropolitan areaA current NSW White Card (General Construction) is preferredAUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITYA Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
