What we do:The CIO for Technology team ensures that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customer and support our Group Strategy.We work hard to ensure that best practice, whether inside CommBank or outside in the broader technology ecosystem, is discovered, sheltered, nurtured, and spread to wherever else it can drive the most benefit for the Group and our customers.We are actively involved in the technology community, contributing to education programs, innovation, research, and partnerships that will set Australia up for success as the economy transitions to a more digital future.Do work that matters:Working in the Engineering Practice as the Manager - Engineering Governance Lifecycles you will be instrumental in the execution, operationalisation and continual improvement of engineering policies and standards. This role is pivotal in embedding consistent, efficient, and compliant engineering practices across the Group, ensuring alignment with industry best practice and regulatory requirements.Your role:Execute and maintain the end-to-end lifecycle of engineering standards, including documentation, communication, and technical enforcement.Collaborate with engineering, architecture, security, and governance teams to implement and uplift engineering standards and frameworks.Operate and evolve central repositories (e.g., GitHub, Confluence) for standards, approved technologies, and related documentation.Coordinate regular content for communications channels (such as engineering newsletters and technical committees) to ensure standards and changes are visible and understood across the Group and in all circles.Support technology radar and RFC (Request for Comment) processes, enabling engineers to propose, review, and adopt new technologies and practices.Track adoption and effectiveness of standards, identifying opportunities for improvement and enhanced assurance.Provide technical guidance in engineering governance activities, particularly around process lifecycle management and integration with existing systems and processes.Get involved in other Engineering Practice streams of work when there is capacity to support our other key deliverables.We are interested in hearing from people who possess:You will ideally have a strong technology background with an understanding of engineering principles, standards, and best practicesProactivity, a detail-oriented mindset and the ability to take ownership of initiatives from conception to operationalisation and iterationThe ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and be a strong advocate for driving changeBe able to work as an individual contributor, as well as part of a multi-stakeholder working environment on large initiatives with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsExperience working with Agile ways of working, including tooling such as Jira & ConfluenceDemonstrated risk & cost management mindset.Working with usWhether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with CommBank is for you.
