Learn more about what Hall & Wilcox can offer you:About the role and teamWe have an exciting opportunity for an Associate to join our market leading General Insurance practice in Melbourne, working with a highly regarded Partner and team of lawyers.This role will primarily involve handling coronial inquiries and public liability (personal injury) claims for government departments and clients, including catastrophic personal injury claims. This role will suit legal practitioners with experience working for, or within, government in areas involving personal injury litigation.Our General Insurance team advises on and manages a diverse portfolio of claims for many Australian and international insurers and underwriters, government departments and public sector entities and self-insured corporations. Our team routinely handles claims that are complex, technically challenging and high profile. Our team in Melbourne is part of our national General Insurance practice - a collaborative, collegiate and high performing team.About youYou will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • minimum 3 years of post-admission experience in defendant litigation/insurance law;
  • experience advising government or public entities in personal injury matters or coronial inquests, or alternatively experience working in a government department;
  • experience managing personal injury claims;
  • experience supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals;
  • strong technical ability and attention to detail; and
  • strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
