- Deliver the daily spot market activities for the ACCIONA Australia portfolio, working collaboratively with the Operations Department and Control Room.
- Assist in establishing annual portfolio objectives and reporting on progress.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with AEAG colleagues and counterparts in Spain (AE).
- Contribute to the market interface for the ACCIONA generation portfolio with the National Electricity market including day to day physical market management and earnings optimisation.
- This role will be a key contact point between site staff, the Operations Team, the new Australian Control Room and relevant operational staff based in Spain.
- The Physical Markets Trader will work cross-functionally to integrate operational activities including scheduling windfarm operations (including maintenance) and out of hours market operational oversight.
- This role will have responsibility for:
- Engage in the development and review of bidding strategies and dispatch protocols considering portfolio hedging strategies, revenue targets and risk management protocols.
- Reporting on portfolio market performance.
- Ensuring market activities are undertaken in a manner that complies with market rules, laws and regulations, including the National Electricity Rules.
- Monitoring market conditions including wholesale prices, FCAS and other market related conditions impacting pricing and dispatch.
- Being a key contact for the Control Room for managing market protocols for the generation fleet.
- Work closely with the Senior Manager, Physical Markets to develop appropriate market strategies.
- Communicating and reporting on market conditions and outlook to senior management.
- Informing longer term hedging strategies and review of portfolio strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholder and market participants.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders – in AEAG and Acciona Energy more broadly.
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, finance, science or engineering preferred.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communications skills.
- Presentation and communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with counterparties and clients.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Privileged Access Workers (PAW's) are required to obtain satisfactory results from Acciona's Suitability Assessment prior to commencement, this forms part of our standard pre-employment checks.
- Previous experience in the National Electricity Market, particularly in wholesale markets or tangentially related fields (e.g. risk, settlements etc.).
- Experience in environmental product markets.
- Experience in risk management.
- Post graduate qualifications.
- Experience in working across cultures.
- Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to grow with the organisation.
