This newly created HR Manager role is central to supporting growth and shaping the people function as the business scales. Reporting to the COO, you’ll be responsible for refreshing and simplifying HR systems, ensuring compliance, and providing practical, data-driven advice to leaders. The remit is broad covering workforce planning, recruitment, and organisational development and calls for a hands-on, pragmatic approach. While you’ll have autonomy to shape how HR processes are run, you’ll also have access to external support during peak project periods, particularly for recruitment. It’s a rare chance to step into a small, entrepreneurial environment and design a fit-for-purpose HR function that enables rapid expansion without unnecessary red tape.About You
We’re looking for a commercially sharp, adaptable HR professional who is confident working in technical or project-led settings. You will be a strong communicator, comfortable engaging at all levels from engineers and project managers to the executive team, and be resilient enough to hold your ground while also knowing when to support collective decisions. Experience in engineering, construction, or project-based industries will be highly regarded. Above all, you’ll be a self-starter who thrives in collaborative, data-driven environments and can deliver structured, evidence-based HR solutions in a business that values agility, innovation, and shared success. For more information or a confidential discussion, please contact Lorainne Winterstein on 02 8256 2512 or lwinterstein@thenextstep.com.au quoting reference number 3955839.Reference Number:3955839Date Published:27-Aug-2025Contact Name:Lorainne WintersteinContact Email:Lwinterstein@thenextstep.com.auAPPLY NOWAPPLY NOWCREATE ALERTSimilar JobsConsultant Name: Consultant Email: Social AccountsInterested in this job?Save this jobPrint this jobShare this jobSCHEMA MARKUP ( This text will only show on the editor. )The Next Step embraces individuality and differences in gender, age, ethnicity, race, cultural background, disability, faith and sexual orientation.
