We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (Nurse Grade 5) to join Sarina Hospital. This placement requires nurses who can work across both the Emergency Department and Medical Ward in a rural setting. You will provide care to a diverse patient mix, including acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, palliative, and alcohol detox patients.Working Conditions:
- Roster: Rotating 8-hour shifts (including on-call)
- Days Off: As per roster
- Overtime: Applies after 64 hrs per fortnight
- Ability to work across both ED and Medical Wards
- Rural nursing and emergency experience
- Triage experience
- Medical Ward experience in a 16-bed acute/sub-acute/rehab ward
- Knowledge of ieMR, FirstNet, PowerChart, HBCIS
- Previous experience with QLD Health / Mackay HHS
- ALS, Resus, and Triage certificates
- BLS competency
- Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK)
- Manual & patient handling
- Infection control
- Aggressive behaviour management
- Mandatory reporting (child protection)
- Medication management (QPHS - Drugs & Poisons Regulations 2012)

- Hours: 64-80 hours per fortnight (as per placement)
- Sarina Hospital is transitioning to a new facility in early 2024, with expanded services and a new 19-bed ward.
- Accommodation: May be in Mackay due to limited housing in Sarina. Nurses may need to drive between Mackay and Sarina for shifts. Car required.
- ieMR training: If not already ieMR-trained, nurses will need to attend training in Mackay before commencement.
- 16-bed inpatient ward (rehab, sub-acute, palliative, alcohol detox, acute patients)
- Outpatient and Emergency Department services
- Expansion planned: 19-bed ward, larger ED, new medical infusion unit
