Sarina Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (Grade 5) to support its 16-bed inpatient ward and emergency department. Nurses will work across a variety of patient presentations including rehabilitation, palliative, sub-acute, detox, and acute care. Flexibility is required for rostered rotating 8-hour shifts, including on-call duties.Requirements
- Ability to work across Emergency Department and Medical Wards
- Rural nursing and emergency experience
- Triage experience
- Experience in managing patients within a 16-bed acute, subacute, rehabilitation, and nursing home ward
- ALS, Resuscitation, and Triage certificates
- BLS competency
- Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK)
- Manual and patient handling
- Infection control
- Aggressive behaviour management
- Mandatory reporting (child abuse and neglect)
- Medications management including QPHS (Drugs and Poisons) Regulations (Nov 2012)
- Knowledge of ieMR, First Net, Power Chart, HBCIS
- Previous experience within Queensland Health / Mackay HHS

Hours: As per roster, rotating 8-hour shifts (including on call)

- 16-bed inpatient ward with outpatient services and ED
- Patients include: rehabilitation, slow stream rehabilitation, palliative, voluntary alcohol detox, acute & sub-acute
- Expansion in progress: new 19-bed inpatient ward, expanded ED, and medical day infusion unit
- ieMR Training: Nurses must be ieMR trained. If not, training will be arranged in Mackay prior to commencement.
- Transport: Nurse must have access to a car (potential travel between Mackay and Sarina for shifts).
- Accommodation: May be in Mackay due to limited availability in Sarina.
Sarina is famous for its sugar industry and rum distillery, with the Sarina Sugar Shed offering tours where visitors can learn how sugar is processed and even taste rum and liqueurs.What's Around
