This full-time permanent position is based in our Perth office overlooking the beautiful Elizabeth Quay.About this opportunity
As a HSE Officer - Vessels Services Australia you will:
  • Provide direct support to the HSE Lead while also operating autonomously when engaging with vessel personnel, executing audits, managing incident actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives at the frontline. You will also work closely with Vessel Managers, crew, and the HSE Lead to embed safe systems of work and promote a proactive safety culture.
Some key responsibilities:
  • Assist in the execution of HSE strategies and programs across the Australian vessel fleet.
  • Support vessel teams in implementing HSE policies, procedures, and management plans.
  • Support and/or Lead incident investigations where appropriate under direction of the HSE Lead or when delegated.
  • Maintain readiness for emergency scenarios and support vessel-level emergency preparedness activities.
  • Collate and report HSE performance indicators and contribute to internal/external reporting.
  • Review and support implementation of contractor HSE plans and bridging documentation.
  • Promote Target 365 and other company safety initiatives.
  • Assist with HSE campaigns, and safety stand-downs.
Essential Qualifications
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent NEBOSH Dip)
  • Knowledge of maritime safety systems and international maritime regulations
Desirable Qualifications
  • Maritime qualification (e.g., Master
  • Incident investigation training (e.g., ICAM, TapRoot)
  • Internal Auditor training (ISM, ISO, or similar)
What do we need from you?
  • Working knowledge of maritime safety codes (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC)
  • Ability to work across teams and engage with offshore personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HSE responsibilities autonomously in offshore and remote environments.
  • Skilled in hazard identification, risk assessment, and reporting
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
