
Project Engineer - Spoil

- Oversee and coordinate the spoil management plan, including excavation, loading, haulage, and disposal activities.
- Ensure that spoil handling adheres to all relevant environmental regulations and alliance policies.
- Work with the project team to identify suitable disposal locations and methods, including recycling or reuse options.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure proper documentation and compliance with spoil management requirements.
- Monitor and report on the volume and type of materials excavated, transported, and disposed of.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize the environmental impact of spoil disposal.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and other engineers to integrate spoil management into the overall project plan.
- Develop and maintain project documentation related to spoil management, including tracking systems and reports.
- Investigate and resolve any issues that arise in the spoil management process, such as contamination or transportation challenges.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site personnel regarding spoil handling and disposal.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize spoil management practices.
- Managing work and performance of subcontractors
- Utilize effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (i.e. Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering); 2+ years post qualification experience
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and best practices related to excavation and waste management.
- Industry experience in road, bridges, and/or tunnelling projects with direct experience in spoil management preferred.
- Delivered on major civil infrastructure projects or similar
- Advanced commercial acumen including cost reduction and meeting budgets
- Understanding of HSEQ management systems, compliance and reporting procedures
- High level of computer literacy
