Requisition ID: CAM26986Sydney Local Health District is seeking highly motivated General SRMOs (PGY3 or above) to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred, Balmain and Dubbo Base Hospitals.Where you'll be workingRoyal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as from Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics and Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. RPAH is one of Australia's leading hospitals, providing extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services.Balmain Hospital is a community based hospital providing Aged Care, Rehabilitation, General Practice Casualty (GP Casualty), a Transitional Care Unit (TCU), and The Centre for STRONG Medicine. The majority of its inpatients come from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). All of the wards are supported by Social Workers, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Pathologists.

Outside of work, our rosters allow JMOs ample time to enjoy the cultural highlights and natural beauty of Dubbo.What you'll be doingThe SRMO position will have similar responsibilities to other junior medical officers and be allocated a five term year. They will be expected to complete at least one term at Balmain Hospital where part of their duties will be to work without direct supervision on night duty.
- To provide effective medical care to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment.
- Co-ordinating the admission, management and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to his / her Unit within the Local Health District, and ensuring that the admission and plans are documented in the medical record.
- The day-to-day assessment and management of the patients in his/her Unit, communicating with them and their family the nature of their condition and its treatment.
- Communicating and coordinating care with their team, arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate, then arranging discharge and liaising with local medical officers and other community based care modalities.
- All decisions concerning the patient(s) in consultation with their immediate supervisor.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia with General AHPRA Registration.
- Demonstrated excellent professional behaviour in the workplace. This should be reflected in at least one of the listed referees being your current Director of Prevocational Education Training (or equivalents).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness and ability to participate in overtime and on-call rosters.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability and willingness to move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care (including rural locations).
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience, JMO must have worked in an Australian hospital for at least 12 months.
