To put it simply we want our people to thrive and love the work they do.In this Senior Manager role, you will work with the Head of Operational Risk and Compliance to develop, implement, maintain and monitor the Rest risk management framework across Rest’s investment function, demonstrating and embodying a sound risk culture, and meeting Rest’s legislative and regulatory obligations.Some key accountabilities of the role are:
  • Together with the Head of Operational Risk and Compliance, Investments, promote risk culture across the investment team and continuously drive improvement and strengthen the investment team’s operational risk management framework
  • Together with the other Senior Managers, Operational Risk and Compliance, assist business owners to better manage risk issues across the Investment team
  • Manage the operation of Rest’s Risk Management Framework as it relates to Rest’s investment functions (including assessing risk profile and exposures, controls testing and assurance, managing certifications and attestations, overseeing incident remediation and responses to audit findings)
  • Responsible for risk reporting in relation to the investment function
  • Lead day-to-day interactions with the second line risk and compliance team on behalf of the Investment team (to the extent appropriate)
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, law, economics, business or equivalent
  • (desirable) Membership of a professional body such as the Risk Management Institute of Australia or the GRC Institute
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
  • Demonstrated experience in risk and compliance management in the financial services industry (ideally investment management and/or superannuation)
  • Thorough understanding of, and experience of developing and implementing and reporting on, risk and compliance management tools, techniques and best practice methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of the investment management industry
  • (desirable) Experience with investment management operations
  • Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to compliance risk management
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines
