My client, a leading name in the electrical contracting industry here in Victoria have asked me to source them an Estimator to join their existing team.You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects from concept through to final tender submission. You will work closely with project managers, design teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure all project requirements are met, and estimates align with client expectations and company objectives.This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and exciting T1 projects within a supportive, collaborative environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for electrical D&C projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to understand scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with in-house design and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between design and cost.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Conduct site visits (when required) to gather essential information for estimates.
  • Identify and assess potential risks, opportunities, and value engineering alternatives.
  • Prepare tender submissions, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.
  • Assist in the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team, providing detailed breakdowns and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and pricing records.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, material costs, and market conditions.
Ideal candidates will have:
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, ideally within a D&C contractor environment here in VIC.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems across commercial, industrial, and/or residential sectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Simpro, Expert Estimation, Conest, or similar).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Trade background highly regarded but not essential.
