Job Category: Commercial Contracts and ProcurementJob Description:Downer is seeking a skilled Commercial Manager to provide commercial and contract management of the High-Capacity Metro Train (HCMT) maintenance subcontracts. This full-time permanent role is central to ensuring contract compliance, driving commercial outcomes, and supporting safe and efficient delivery across our rolling stock maintenance operations.Key Responsibilities
  • Administer HCMT maintenance contracts, including notices, payment claims, and variations
  • Ensure compliance with safety, performance, and reporting obligations
  • Identification, evaluation and mitigation of commercial risks
  • Provide robust commercial advice to the HCMT Fleet Manager and Commercial Director
  • Lead commercial negotiations for resolution of issues with suppliers and customers
  • Leading high quality commercial responses incorporating operational and fleet engineering workstreams
  • Strengthen governance, drive contract growth and improve commercial contract returns
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and customers
  • Contribute to strategic decision making and the wider Downer Rolling Stock Commercial group
What We're Looking For
  • Tertiary qualification in law, engineering, or business
  • 5+ years' experience in contract/commercial management
  • Experience in rolling stock, infrastructure, PPPs, or long-term maintenance contracting is desirable
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously
