Today we do this from our Centre for Country Kids in Manly. We are looking for a Social Worker, Level 1 or 2 in a Full Time, Fixed Term position until October 2026. Please ensure you detail your experience as well as why you want to work with Royal Far West in your cover letter.Job DescriptionABOUT THE ROLEThe Social Workers at Royal Far West practice a strengths based, family centered, trauma informed approach, supporting the child's mental health and developmental well-being in the wider context of their home, environment and community. This position is responsible for the provision of Social Work services to children and families referred to Royal Far West. Services are provided collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.   • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, eligible for membership with AASW.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the core components of paediatric Social Work i.e. family support work/child interventions, parent counselling/coaching, short-term & targeted casework, and working in partnership with families and local service networks. This includes the ability to plan and deliver social work assessment, intervention, case management and discharge planning of children (0 - 12 years) with developmental vulnerability.
  • Exhibits effective written and verbal communication skills including report writing, file notes, communicating with children, carers, teachers and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of Child Safe practices including, but not limited to, Child Protection legislation, policy and procedures. Capacity to assess and respond to child safety and wellbeing with various stakeholders including children, carers and systems.
  • Solid understanding of family-centered and strengths-based care and trauma informed approaches.
  • Complies with Mandatory Employment Screening Checks Policy and Workforce Immunisation Policy.
  • Commitment to diverse and inclusive practices. Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within the context of health and family wellbeing.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and liaising with a broad range of services.
Desirable Criteria
  • An understanding and appreciation of the benefits and challenges for children in living in rural and remote areas.
  • Experience working with children/adolescents with disability and/or complex developmental, social-emotional, learning and behavioural challenges.
  • Knowledge of early life trauma and or experience working from a trauma informed approach.
