Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made.Find out more at or on and .Our Energy and Resources practice are looking for an experienced Water Sector Lead to join the team in Sydney or Melbourne.We are leaders in consulting for the utilities sector. Our team help government, regulators, industry bodies, regulated utilities, and their investors to develop their plans for the future and implement changes, to meet challenges including climate change and sustainability, customer and environmental protection, investability, efficiency and performance.We are looking to expand our leadership team in Australia with a Water sector lead. Working with other specialists, you'll be able to combine your deep industry knowledge with flexibility to help shape, design and deliver solutions for our clients.Some examples of our work include:
  • Developing economic frameworks and mechanisms with regulators.
  • Advising regulated water companies on their pricing submissions.
  • Strategic commercial reviews of regulated utility companies for Boards and investors.
  • Supporting government to develop new policies for water management.
  • Shaping and delivering transformation programmes to improve performance.
What you will be doing· Developing Baringa's existing portfolio of water projects in Australia to the next level.· Building relationships with existing and prospective clients, working as a leader in our team to prioritise and lead business development activities.· Leading delivery of a portfolio of projects, taking full responsibility for high quality client and commercial outcomes.· Shaping future hiring requirements and further building our capabilities across the existing team and new hires.· Working collaboratively within our existing teams in Australia, and shaping future strategy, sharing knowledge and helping to create a global community for water and wider utilitiesYour skills and experienceWe recruit individuals at all levels based on merit. Some of the key sills we are looking for are:· You have an in-depth knowledge of the Australian water sector. This might include a focus in one or more of policy and regulation, commercial strategy, and operational transformation.· Your experience working in a consulting organisation would be advantageous, with a track record of sales and delivery revenue in the $2m p.a. range.· Most of your experience is likely to be with regulated urban water utilities (and their regulators). Experience in the rural water sector or with industrial water users is of interest but will not be your exclusive focus.· You have demonstrable people leadership skills, able to lead teams effectively and coach and develop individuals.· You possess good communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-specialist audiences.· You are strongly focused on working collaboratively with clients with an ability to manage delivery through to successful conclusion, as well as offering strategic-level advice.· You are enthusiastic and ambitious, and you play a key part in growing our team.· You have passion for the sector and its contribution to society and sustainability.· If you have experience across sectors including energy, and in the water sector in other countries, this would be useful, but is not a base requirement.What a career at Baringa will give youPutting People First· We give you every opportunity to progress by having four promotional reviews a year.
