The role involves supporting the production of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical use over a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of transitioning into an ongoing position. It requires a Bachelor of Science and experience in the radiopharmaceutical industry, particularly in production. The position entails working 80 hours per fortnight and reporting to the Chief of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences.key responsibilities include producing radiopharmaceuticals, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing stock, developing operational documents, and participating in research initiatives, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality practices. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential for success in this role.Remuneration as per Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists Victorian Public Sector (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. Medical Scientist Grade 2 Year 1 (RY4) $94,478.80 per annum (full-time equivalent) to Medical Scientist Grade 2 Year 4 (RY7) $106,906.80 per annum (full-time equivalent) dependent on candidate experience. Ability to critically assess and evaluate new equipment instruments or productsKey Accountabilities1. Support the production of Radiopharmaceuticals for clinical use
  • Operate and maintain protocols for the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals in strict adherence to relevant EU pharmacopoeia standards.
  • Operate routine protocols for production and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals.
2. Support routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Arrange first line scheduled and emergency maintenance for laboratory equipment, in collaboration with relevant partners.
  • Ensure efficient performance of, and undertake first-line maintenance of, the Synthesisers, Dispensing Equipment, Hot Cells, including dose calibration, monitoring and sterility checks where appropriate.
  • Maintain records of faults on any dysfunction – operational, equipment or environment integrity. Interpret and rectify operational faults where possible and indicate where a contractor should be called.
3. Support ordering, storage and removal of relevant stock
  • Ordering of stock, preparation of chemicals required for routine radiopharmaceutical production including formulation of reagents, etc and the safe disposal of waste chemicals and materials.
4. Support the development / improvement of operational documents
  • Prepare updated/new SOPs in accordance with the relevant guidelines as may be necessary from time to time for approval by management and adoption by the unit.
  • Prepare and update other documents in support of routine clinical productions including batch records, forms, validation documents and others.
5. Participate in Peter Mac s research initiatives, and actively contribute to research being conducted with academic collaborators and industry partners
  • Work with researchers from Cancer Imaging to ensure quality is a primary consideration in the radiopharmaceutical development pathway.
  • Support internal research in the Radiopharmaceutical Research laboratory.
6. Play an active role in ensuring safe practices are employed at all times
  • Work with researchers from Cancer Imaging to ensure quality is a primary consideration in the radiopharmaceutical development pathway.

7. Professional Development
