Our University client is looking for two experienced and hands-on Technical Officers to support teaching and research laboratories in heavy structures and civil infrastructure.This is a practical, lab-based role ideal for professionals with experience in construction, mining, or civil works (e.g. councils or industry). You’ll play a key role in maintaining safe and efficient operations of structural testing facilities, while also delivering training and technical support to a wide range of users.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of structural testing labs, ensuring compliance with OH&S and industry standards
  • Provide expert advice and training in structural testing techniques (e.g. compressive, shear, and tensile strength testing)
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, develop standard operating procedures, and manage consumables
  • Coordinate lab inductions and safety briefings for students and staff
  • Support research projects and help commission new testing equipment
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven laboratory or industry experience in structural testing or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of OH&S requirements and industry safety standards
  • Ability to deliver technical training and produce user-friendly documentation
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Relevant degree or higher qualification
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check
