Randstad Recruitment is proud to partner with a Government department who manages the construction, development and maintenance of local bridge assetsIn your role as a Project Engineer, you will be tasked with the delivery of assigned projects and program of works ensuring projects are delivered to the agreed budget, time, quality and scope constraints. The role will liaise with the Construction Manager and Delivery Managers in relation to the delivery of projects, and work closely with these Managers to resolve issues, negotiate fair outcomes and provide technical advice to non-technical staff.Duties include:
  • Lead engineering projects of moderate-to-considerable difficulty, complexity, and risk, ensuring deliverables agreed with Clients are met. Take full ownership of all aspects of project management and delivery.
  • Manage the cost of the delivery of services to ensure that the projects and jobs under supervision are achieved within budget constraints. Take the necessary corrective actions to keep projects on time without exceeding the budget which will involve the identification and management of risks and potential problems.
  • Administer and manage the procurement, engagement, and execution of contract work to meet overall schedule and project objectives in accordance with relevant project designs and specifications.
  • Ensure that projects are achieved within the set time constraints, taking necessary corrective actions without exceeding the budget.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and quality control by implementing work procedures, auditing conformance of projects and recording and reporting on work quality.
  • Ensure that the Delivery Manager receives regular feedback on cost management, timing schedule adherence, quality of work, risks to the public (safety), the environment, and variations to scope.
Skills & Experience:
  • Due to the requirements of this role, a tertiary qualification in Engineering is required
  • Possession of a current “C” Class driver’s licence
  • Possession of a current “Work safely in the construction industry” - (White Card) Competency (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated well developed technical knowledge and skills in civil engineering, construction management and procurement.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply relevant WHS, Environmental, and quality policies and procedures in the operational field environment.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Project and works management software tools such as SAP and other general office software packages.
  • Experience in delivery and management of civil construction projects.
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
