- Drive alignment with the Client First Operating Model, supporting risk forums and capability uplift.
- Enable reduction of operational risk through proactive engagement and collaboration.
- Integrate First Line Risk management into broader organisational planning and decision-making.
- Continuously improve risk management strategies, processes, and controls.
- Oversee the development and implementation of First Line Risk protocols across departments.
- Translate frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements into practical actions.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage emerging risks and compliance obligations.
- Monitor and report on risk mitigation plans to ensure alignment with appetite.
- Contribute to risk reviews for projects, transitions, and business requirements.
- Participate in assurance mapping and Early Change Assessments (ECAs).
- Deliver training to uplift risk awareness and capability across teams.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a small team of First Line Risk professionals.
- Foster a high-performing team culture, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Identify development needs and deliver risk and resilience education across the business.
- Support staff in adhering to risk principles and uplifting operational capability.
- Promote a culture of high performance aligned to MUFG's core values.
- Collaborate with 2nd and 3rd Line Risk to implement the Three Lines of Defence (3LOD) model.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
- Support assurance programs and contribute to compliance reporting and governance activities.
- Monitor and escalate compliance issues to Line 2 where required.
- 3+ years' experience in operational risk, compliance, or related roles.
- Strong operational experience in financial services or superannuation risk management.
- Solid understanding of risk frameworks, internal controls, and compliance obligations.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to uplift risk capability and embed best practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, risk, or related disciplines.
- Personal commitment to modelling organisational behaviours and values.
- Extensive knowledge of superannuation legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to analyse complex processes and develop recommendations to strengthen controls.
- Strong, collaborative working relationships across all organisational levels.
