Our client is part of one of the largest insurance companies globally. This multi-disciplinary agency are currently searching for an experienced Underwriting Team Leader to join their construction team.
Based close to Melbourne CBD, this opportunity would suit someone with strong technical underwriting knowledge in construction. - This is a leadership role – Initially you will be responsible for 3-4 Underwriters, but as the team grows, so will you
- Regular personnel management responsibilities
- Work alongside the construction manager to ensure strategic plans & targets are being met
- Support the team working on an Open Market construction portfolio and submissions – both Material Damage and Third-Party Liability
- Negotiate market competitive T&C outcomes for presentation to customers and brokers
- Support senior members & directors in building and maintaining strong commercial relationships with key Carrier and Broker stakeholders
- Maintain and execute on partner plans (existing and new broker relationships) ensuring growth target are achieved.
- Prepare and oversee Open Market submissions into overseas and local carrier markets
- Exceptional business acumen, negotiation skill and business development within construction (OR similar specialist product) Underwriting
- Expert knowledge of Australian and global underwriting policies
- Prior people management/leadership within Underwriting is essential
