Closing: Sunday, 14th September 2025Located in the scenic New England region of NSW, Walcha Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) is seeking a dedicated Child and Family Health Nurse/Midwife to join our close-knit team. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver early intervention, health promotion, and family support services in a welcoming and well-supported rural setting.About the ServiceWalcha MPS is a vital healthcare hub for the region, featuring:
  • 2-bed Emergency Department (plus consult room)
  • 9 Acute beds (including 1 palliative care bed)
  • 15 Residential Aged Care beds
  • On-site GP/VMO support Wednesday to Saturday
  • Telehealth emergency medical support 24/7
As part of this service, the Child and Family Health Nurse/Midwife plays a crucial role in supporting families with newborns and young children, delivering home visits, health checks, parenting support, and tailored care to strengthen early childhood health and development.What You'll Be DoingIn this role, you will:
  • Deliver safe, culturally respectful, family-centred care for parents, infants, and children
  • Provide home visits to families within two weeks of birth
  • Support families with parenting advice, breastfeeding, child development, and early intervention
  • Act as an advocate to help families make informed health decisions
  • Collaborate with GPs, multidisciplinary teams, and community services to ensure seamless care
  • Contribute to Closing the Gap by working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families

Who We're Looking ForWe're seeking a Registered Nurse or Midwife with:
  • AHPRA registration
  • Postgraduate Child and Family Health qualifications
  • Current NSW driver's licence
  • Experience delivering child and family health services, including home visiting
  • Strong advocacy, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
