
Intake and Referral Practitioner - Family & Relationship Services

- Managing of incoming client referrals – including referrals from key partners and stakeholders and assessing eligibility and suitability.
- Completion of client intake, initial needs assessment as well as risk assessment/s and safety planning where required.
- Providing information and referring to both internal and external programs including counselling for individuals, couples, children and families, group education and parenting programs, domestic and family violence counselling and family law / family dispute resolution services.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA).
- Well-developed understanding of Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and the impacts on families engaged in these systems.
- Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child safety, family law, mental health.
- Experience in intake, risk assessment, case management and referral pathways crisis intervention, DVO assistance and safety planning.
- Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.
- Highly effective communication with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to advocate for our clients’ needs with other statutory organisations/ departments.
- Have a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.
- Availability for some after-hours work.
