Job Category: Frontline Trades and LabourJob Description:In this role, you'll contribute directly to the patient experience by preparing and delivering safe, nutritious, and appealing meals. You will work collaboratively with other kitchen and food services staff in a supportive, patient-focused environment.This is a full-time opportunity working between the hours of 0500 and 1900 Monday - Friday. You must be available to work 38 hours per week and have full working rights to be considered for this role.What you'll do:Prepare, assemble and produce patient meals in accordance with dietary and food safety guidelinesEnsure compliance with HACCP and Downer Food Safety Plans through accurate documentation and monitoringMaintain high hygiene standards across food storage, handling, and preparation areasSafely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, adhering to approved safety and cleaning proceduresCollaborate with internal stakeholders and uphold Downer's Zero Harm safety culture and core business standardsWhat you'll bring:Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (essential); Food Safety and HACCP certifications (desirable)Proven experience in a healthcare or hospital food service environment, including knowledge of texture modified dietsStrong understanding of food hygiene and safety principles with demonstrated cooking expertiseExcellent time management, communication, and organisational skillsTeam-focused, well-presented, and committed to continuous improvement and high service standardsWhy Downer?At Downer, we plan, create, and sustain essential public services across Australia and New Zealand.
