A rare and exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Registered Nurse to take on a leadership position within a busy Perioperative Department at a private hospital in Sydney.POSITION OVERVIEWAs a member of the nursing executive team, the POSM is an integral part of the service planning, commissioning, implementation, and ongoing operational activities, and is responsible for providing expertise and leadership for perioperative services at the hospital. You will work closely with the hospital executive team, VMOs and an amazing team to secure successful outcomes for our patients, VMOs and your team.To ensure effective leadership and management of the Perioperative Services, the goal is to align with hospital objectives while delivering a cost-efficient nursing service that emphasises exceptional, evidence-based patient care. This will be accomplished through visible and accountable leadership, with a strong emphasis on:
  • Providing high-quality and safe services;
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with visiting medical officers (VMOs);
  • Leading the workforce with energy and effectiveness;
  • Ensuring rigorous financial oversight and operational efficiency;
  • Supporting the suite of Perioperative services policies that reflect National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS), ACORN, and other relevant standards;
  • Embedding clinical and corporate governance in daily work practice;
  • Maintaining positive, effective, and responsive working relationships with doctors;
  • Overseeing the effective management of resources, including equipment and theatre scheduling;
  • Monitoring and evaluating equipment needs, use, and maintenance with specialist groups;
  • Coordinating tendering and procurement processes for executive review and approval;
  • Providing effective clinical leadership to the Perioperative services team;
  • Ensuring the training and development program meets staff needs;
  • Promoting adherence to all pertinent Key Performance Indicators;
  • Participating actively in the accreditation process;
  • Leading Quality and Clinical Risk Management initiatives;
  • Contributing to the formulation of strategic direction and related planning;
  • Enhancing operational performance and promoting innovation.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Current Registration with AHPRA;
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Nursing;
  • Minimum of 5 years senior nursing experience within the Perioperative unit;
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role;
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care;
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills;
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management;
  • Demonstrated HR management experience.

ABOUT THE FACILITYThe hospital, located in Sydney, is a 98 patient-beds facility and provides a large range of medical and acute services, including seven operating theatres, an Angiography suite, 10-bed Intensive Care Unit, a Maternity Unit, a Level Two, six patient-bed Special Care Nursery as well as a Day Surgery Unit, Mental Health Unit, Oncology Department as well as pharmacy and radiology services.APPLICATION PROCESS
