Requisition ID: REQ598417Applications Close: 18 September 2025Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa).What you'll be doingThe Safeguards Team is a new dedicated CAMHS resource designed to provide innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress. The team is community based and provides rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crisis, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time-limited therapeutic interventions. The Safeguards Team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings through face to face, phone and telehealth appointments.The position sits within the Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Team ('Safeguards Team') and reports to the Safeguards Team Leader.The primary purpose of the position is to plan, coordinate, and implement clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge in psychology to provide evidence based, trauma informed and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to children and adolescents (0 to 17 years) in acute mental health distress, and their families.The MNCLHD are currently seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our amazing team in the Safeguards Child Adolescent Mental Health Services - Location Negotiable within the Mid North Coast Local Health District.About you
  • Current full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology, or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer and have completed a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service and thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologist; or Current full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with a Masters Degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or some other recognised clinical area in Psychology that the employer deems relevant to the functions of the position. Postgraduate qualification must be of no less than two (2) years full time duration (or part time equivalent) and include professional clinical coursework, clinical training and supervised placement experience as core components.
  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with complex clinical situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved care and outcomes for children, young people and their families/carers.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  • Ability to initiate, lead and complete quality improvement initiatives and service enhancement activities with other staff.
  • Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/
  • Current NSW drivers licence and ability to travel as required.
