This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to influence the architectural and urban character of one of Sydney’s most vibrant and diverse communities. As City Architect, you will provide world-class advice and creative solutions across architecture, heritage, landscaping, sustainability and innovation.What You’ll Do
  • Champion innovation and artistic expression in the built environment across the Inner West.
  • Collaborate with Council teams to deliver high-quality, people-centred spaces and buildings.
  • Provide expert guidance on architectural excellence, heritage conservation, and sustainable design.
  • Work closely with planning, property, and project teams to shape civic buildings, parks, streetscapes and more.

  • Market relativity
  • Additional hours worked required to meet position requirements and performance expectations

The TRP includes the following components:
  • Base salary and superannuation (SCG) contribution (currently 12%), and may include:
  • market premium
  • cost of non-cash benefits
  • cost of fringe benefits tax (FBT)
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications * Relevant tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Urban Design, Heritage Conservation or equivalent related disciplines and significant relevant experience working with varied stakeholders to improve urban design outcomes.
  • Membership/accreditation with the Australian Institute of Architects or similar professional body or meets the relevant criteria for membership and prepared to join.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in heritage and urban design and heritage related matters in the development assessment and local government arenas.
  • Experience in reviewing and commenting on the scope and design from a range of stakeholders to resolve high priority and often sensitive or complex matters
  • Experience in leading strategic planning and design functions
