About the RoleThis position is based at Forensicare’s Paul Mullen Centre, in Clifton Hill.The Forensic Clinical Specialist Program aims to support the mental health workforce to better assess, treat, manage and support people with severe mental illness who display, or have the potential for violent and/or high-risk offending behaviours.The Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the work of the specialists across services, and in contributing to the development of the program. The position works closely with the Department of Health and other key stakeholders such as AMHS, Community Mental Health Support Services (CMHSS –formerly known as PDRSS), consumers, and the Criminal Justice System.As the Coordinator, you will:
  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure a consistent and standardised approach to the Forensic Clinical Specialist positions in keeping with their specialist functions.
  • Provides expert secondary consultation to support the AMHS Forensic Clinical Specialists in undertaking complex assessments and development of management plans.
  • Participates in the ongoing recruitment process for the AMHS Forensic Clinical Specialists in partnership with the relevant AMHS, as required.
  • Coordinates the provision of a comprehensive orientation program for newly appointed AMHS Forensic Clinical Specialists as staff turnover in these positions takes place.
  • Participates in the Forensicare intake review process.
  • Participates in the maintenance of security procedures and practices within CFMHS.
About You:
  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years post registration mental health experience.
  • Experience working at a senior level in forensic mental health and detailed knowledge of forensic mental health risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering professional education sessions.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
