Job Category: Academic (teaching and research)Degree Level: Doctorate DegreeJob Description:Overall PurposeThe Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine will play a pivotal role in shaping our research strategy and strengthening research capabilities across undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, in preparation for the launch of the in 2027. Working collaboratively within a team of dedicated paramedicine educators, the incumbent will lead impactful and initiative research that advance the discipline of Paramedicine.In addition, the Senior Lecturer will provide academic leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Bachelor of Paramedicine program, including the design, review, and implementation of high-quality teaching, simulation, and learning content using innovative and evidence-based approaches. We are currently developing a at our Sunshine Campus, featuring state-of-the-art simulation facilities that will support all our paramedicine programs and provide a unique opportunity to conduct impactful, discipline-specific research.About the RoleThis position reports to and operates under the broad direction of the Head of Program: Allied Health and functions within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the University.The successful candidate will assume a key leadership role in building research capacity and fostering research engagement within the Bachelor of Paramedicine and the broader paramedicine discipline. The role will also contribute to the design and delivery of a research-informed curriculum, aligned with the VU Block Model pedagogy, and promote excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship.The appointee must demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving academic environment and respond effectively to ongoing institutional and discipline-specific changes.The position is primarily based at the St Albans Campus.This is a full-time continuing position at Academic Level C $134,005 - $154,514 plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 (1 FTE) hours per week.An example of your responsibilities or duties you may perform will include:
  • Work with other staff in the College including (but not limited to) the Course Chair to foster collaborations, and build research capacity and industry engagement in Paramedicine;
  • Prepare and deliver all teaching materials required for block workshop, practical classes, and simulations using innovative approaches that are fit-for-purpose within the VU block model;
  • Supervise HDR students;
  • Consult with and provide advice, support, and feedback to students;
About You: * Hold a qualification - PhD in the area of relevancy in Paramedicine or Allied Health related
  • A broad-based knowledge of Paramedicine
  • Experience in teaching and research in a Higher Education context alongside the capacity to mentor early career researchers.
  • Have a strong passion for teaching and a desire for continuous improvement and development in student learning.
  • Possess a background in training or teaching at the higher education level, particularly in the discipline of paramedicine.
  • Have demonstrated academic knowledge of the broad issues relevant to paramedicine.
  • Are keen to contribute to research programs within the discipline and the college
  • Can facilitate excellence in post-graduate teaching through the development and promotion of innovative teaching methods.
